Brunnalm – Hohe Veitsch

A family-friendly ski area

On the sunny side of the Mürz Valley - the ski season 2020/2021 starts on 24th December: Here at the family-friendly Brunnalm-Hohe Veitsch ski area in the municipality of St. Barbara im Mürztal / Veitsch, fun is our top priority. Far away from the more overcrowded ski slopes in other nearby areas, we offer perfect slopes for all levels of difficulty. Nestled within a beautiful mountain panorama, there are 16 prepared slopes with a total length of 12.5 kilometres for you to enjoy. Thanks to our snow-making machine, we can guarantee snow starting in early December. A four-seater chair lift and three T-bar lifts take you from 1,050 to 1,380 metres above sea level. People seeking peace and quiet have come to the right place in Brunnalm-Hohe Veitsch because every step you take into this stunning natural landscape means putting more distance between yourself and the stress of everyday life.

For our younger guests, we offer the Gamsmugl children’s ski area; at our ski school, children and adults alike can learn how to ski or snowboard or improve their existing technique. In addition, beginners can take advantage of the free ‘Magic Carpet’ at Gamsmugl; more advanced skiers use the red and blue slopes.

For experts, there are several black runs; for racers, there is an FIS downhill run. A superlative mogul slope and a first-class deep-snow slope will make any skier’s heart beat faster, even off-piste. Tons of forest paths and trails are a paradise of possibilities for children and adults alike. The many forest paths and trails, including the WinterWanderWeg (WWW), invite you to relax in nature and slow down. Sledges are available free of charge and snowshoes can be rented directly on site.

Gourmets get their money’s worth in Brunnalm – Hohe Veitsch: With a three-hour Max-Flex card, which is also affectionately known as a ‘cabin card’, guests have the opportunity to take a break as often and for as long as they like, then dive back into skiing with renewed energy. Only the actual minutes spent on the slope are counted. Hardly any lift waiting times, the naturalness of the ski area and the easy orientation make it the perfect destination for families. The Gasthof Scheikl has its own parking lot for tourers. From here, you can reach the Hohe Veitsch (1,982 metres) and the Graf Meran Haus (1,836 metres) along excellent routes. The family business is located directly by the ski slope – enjoy homestyle cooking on the sun terrace with a wonderful panorama.

The three local catering establishments gladly welcome bus groups with regional delicacies and good plain fare at fair prices. Or stop by the Gamsmugl Bar right at the valley station for an après ski! For overnight stays in St. Barbara im Mürztal, you can choose between private and holiday rooms or the JUFA Hotel with its large swimming pool, turbo slide and Finnish sauna for an all-inclusive price.
